  • Side Effects of Elevated Cortisol

The manifestations of high cortisol levels, often referred to as the "stress hormone," encompass a spectrum of physiological and psychological symptoms that can significantly impact overall well-being. Elevated cortisol, typically a response to chronic stress or certain medical conditions, has far-reaching effects on various bodily systems. Physiologically, it can weaken the immune system, contribute to weight gain, disrupt sleep patterns and elevate the risk of cardiovascular issues. On a psychological level, high cortisol levels are linked to mood disorders, cognitive impairments and increased susceptibility to anxiety and depression. Understanding and recognising these symptoms are crucial for both prevention and management, as chronic exposure to elevated cortisol can have profound implications for long-term health.

    • Cardiovascular Issues: Cortisol can contribute to elevated blood pressure by influencing the constriction of blood vessels and increasing the production of certain hormones. Over time, this can contribute to the development of cardiovascular problems, including hypertension and an increased risk of heart disease.
    • Digestive Problems: Cortisol can influence the digestive system, leading to issues such as increased stomach acid production, changes in bowel movements and heightened sensitivity to gastrointestinal discomfort.
    • Hormonal Imbalances: Cortisol interacts with other hormones and its prolonged elevation can disrupt the delicate balance of the endocrine system. This imbalance can affect reproductive hormones, thyroid function and other crucial regulatory systems.
    • Impaired Cognitive Function: Chronic exposure to high cortisol can impair memory, concentration and cognitive performance. It may affect the hippocampus, a region of the brain crucial for memory and learning.
    • Menopause: Elevated cortisol levels can significantly influence the experience of menopause, exacerbating various symptoms associated with this natural life stage. Stress-induced cortisol spikes can contribute to intensified hot flashes and night sweats, disrupt sleep patterns and exacerbate mood swings and irritability during menopause. Furthermore, the interaction between cortisol and hormonal changes may contribute to weight gain, particularly around the abdomen and pose additional risks to bone health, potentially increasing the likelihood of osteoporosis. Additionally, chronic stress and elevated cortisol levels can impact cognitive function, potentially adding to the cognitive changes that women may already experience during menopause.
    • Mental Health Effects: Cortisol's impact on the brain can contribute to anxiety and depression. It can interfere with neurotransmitter function and affect the balance of chemicals in the brain that regulate mood and stress response.
    • Muscle and Bone Loss: Elevated cortisol levels accelerate the breakdown of muscle and bone tissues. This catabolic effect can lead to muscle weakness, decreased bone density and an increased risk of fractures.
    • Skin Problems: Cortisol's impact on the skin includes the stimulation of sebum production and inflammation. This can contribute to skin issues such as acne, eczema, or psoriasis, especially during periods of chronic stress.
    • Sleep Disruptions: High cortisol levels can interfere with the natural sleep-wake cycle. Cortisol normally follows a diurnal rhythm, peaking in the early morning and decreasing at night. Disruptions to this rhythm, such as persistently elevated levels, can result in difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep.
    • Weakened Immune System: Elevated cortisol suppresses the production of immune cells and antibodies, reducing the body's ability to fend off infections and increasing susceptibility to illnesses.
    • Weight Gain: Cortisol promotes the storage of fat, particularly visceral fat around the abdominal organs. This can lead to an increase in body weight, often accompanied by metabolic changes that contribute to obesity.
  • NatroVital Cortisol Calm Helping The Body Manage Stress

    • Bacopa (Bacopa monnieri): Bacopa has a rich traditional history in Ayurvedic medicine, particularly for its cognitive-enhancing properties. It has been traditionally used to support memory, focus and overall cognitive function. Additionally, Bacopa's adaptogenic nature may also contribute to stress reduction and help lower cortisol levels. By supporting cognitive function and alleviating stress, Bacopa may promote a balanced and clear state of mind.
    • Ginkgo Biloba (Ginkgo biloba): Ginkgo biloba has been highly valued in traditional Chinese medicine for its potential benefits on cognitive function and memory. It is believed to enhance blood circulation, including cerebral blood flow, which can positively impact cognitive processes. By supporting optimal blood circulation to the brain and improving oxygen and nutrient delivery, Ginkgo biloba may help improve memory, focus and overall cognitive performance. Additionally, its role in supporting the body's response to stress and potentially lowering cortisol levels can further contribute to cognitive well-being.
    • St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum): St. John's Wort has a rich history of use in traditional medicine, particularly in addressing mood-related concerns. It has been traditionally used to support mood balance and alleviate symptoms associated with low mood, anxiety and mild depression. By potentially influencing neurotransmitter levels, including serotonin, St. John's Wort may help promote a more positive and balanced emotional state.
    • Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora): Skullcap has been highly regarded in both traditional Native American and Western herbal medicine for its calming and relaxing effects. It has traditionally been used to promote a sense of tranquility and ease nervous tension. By potentially calming the mind and body, Skullcap may assist in reducing anxiety, restlessness and promoting a state of relaxation.
    • Withania (Withania somnifera): Withania, commonly known as Ashwagandha, holds a prominent position in Ayurvedic medicine. Withania is revered for its adaptogenic properties, which support the body's ability to adapt and cope with stress. It has traditionally been used to reduce stress, enhance energy levels and support cognitive function. By potentially modulating cortisol levels and promoting a balanced stress response, Withania may help alleviate the negative effects of stress, improve energy and vitality and support cognitive well-being.

The proprietary blend in Cortisol Calm combines these herbs to provide a synergistic effect in supporting stress, feeling overwhelmed and elevated cortisol. However, it's important to note that individual responses may vary and it's always advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating any new supplements into your routine, especially if you have specific health conditions or are taking medications.

  • How much Cortisol Calm should I consume in a dosage?
The suggested dosages for NatroVital Cortisol Calm are as follows: For significant stress, take 10ml three times a day. For moderate stress, take 10ml twice a day. For minor stress, take 7.5ml twice a day. For maintenance, take 5ml per day.
Are there any supplementary nutrients that can aid in managing excessive stress?
For more efficient management of stress and high cortisol levels, we suggest considering the following additional supplements. Be-Calm is recommended as it aids in boosting GABA, the primary calming and relaxing brain chemical in the body. Additionally, MagExcel is a potent magnesium supplement that supports the nervous, cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems. It is involved in over 300 chemical reactions within the body, including the promotion of sleep. It's worth noting that stress and elevated cortisol levels can lead to significant magnesium depletion.
What is the optimal method of consuming Cortisol Calm for maximum effectiveness?
To ensure optimal intake of Cortisol Calm, we recommend measuring the required dosage using a measuring cup and then adding it to either water or juice. It is important to consume the entire mixture, including any residue left in the measuring cup.
Is Cortisol Calm free from preservatives or any artificial additives?
Natrovital Cortisol Calm is composed solely of Vegetable Glycerine and Purified Water, without the presence of chlorine or fluoride. It does not include any artificial flavours, colourings, sweeteners, or preservatives. Additionally, Cortisol Calm is free from animal products, dairy protein, lactose, eggs, gluten, wheat, nuts, yeast, corn, or soy.
Is Cortisol Calm appropriate for individuals following a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle?
Indeed, NatroVital Cortisol Calm is suitable for both vegetarians and vegans since it does not contain any animal-derived ingredients.
Are there any specific situations or conditions in which the use of NatroVital Cortisol Calm is not recommended or contraindicated?
Please avoid using NatroVital Cortisol Calm if you have known allergies to its ingredients. It contains St. John's Wort, so it should not be used if you are taking any of the following medications: ALPRAZOLAM (Xanax), CONTRACEPTIVE DRUGS, CYCLOSPORINE (Neoral, Sandimmune), DIGOXIN (Lanoxin), DOCETAXEL (continent), IMATINIB (Gleevec), IRINOTECAN (Camptosar), MEPHENYTOIN (Mesantoin), NON-NUCLEOSIDE REVERSE TRANSCRIPTASE INHIBITORS (NNRTIs), OMEPRAZOLE (Prilosec), OXYCODONE (Oxycontin), P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES, PHENOBARBITAL (Luminal), PHENPROCOUMON (Marcoumar, others), PHENYTOIN (Dilantin), PROTEASE INHIBITORS (PIs), RIVAROXABAN (Xarelto), TACROLIMUS (Prograf), WARFARIN (Coumadin). If you are taking antidepressant medication, exercise caution when using NatroVital Cortisol Calm. St. John's Wort theoretically may inhibit reuptake and increase serotonin levels, which could lead to additive effects with serotonergic drugs. Additionally, NatroVital Cortisol Calm may worsen symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux. If you are taking antidiabetic medication, be cautious as Withania may lower blood sugar levels. Furthermore, if you are on thyroid medication, be aware that clinical research and animal studies suggest that Withania enhances thyroid hormone synthesis and secretion.

My teenage son started using this herbal tonic a few weeks ago now (along with a couple of other supplements). It's already made a subtle difference and he is happier and yes 'calmer'. It's so lovely to see more of his true, gentle nature :)

Cortisol calm

I have only started to use this but the improvement has been incredible. I function highly stressed (cortisol/adrenalin junkie) and who would have thought this could calm it all down! Not to wake up with palpitations and my body in fight and flight overload mode is amazing. It has assisted with managing my PTSD symptoms too. Thank you for recommending this product.
